Ingredients

  • 60 ml reposado tequila
  • 30 ml fresh lime juice
  • 30 ml Cointreau or quality triple sec
  • flaky salt, for the rim
  • 1 lime wedge, to garnish
  • ice

Instructions

  • Rub a lime wedge around the outside rim of a coupe or rocks glass. Dip the outside of the rim in flaky salt.
  • Fill the glass with ice and cold water to chill.
  • Combine tequila, lime juice and Cointreau with a big scoop of ice in a shaker. Shake hard for 15 seconds.
  • Discard the ice water. Strain the cocktail into the chilled glass, over fresh ice if using a rocks glass.
  • Garnish with a lime wheel. Drink immediately.

Notes

Fresh lime juice only. Bottled lime will ruin it. Batching for groups: multiply the recipe in a jug, but shake each serve individually over ice for chill and dilution.
