Patrón Silver

Our take

Patrón Silver is the bottle people recognise and it earns its reputation. Softer than Don Julio Blanco, a bit more sweetness on the front, less pepper on the finish. Good for when the drink wants the tequila to blend in rather than lead — ideal for Palomas or a blended frozen Margarita.

100% blue agave, tahona-crushed (that’s the two-tonne volcanic stone wheel) for part of the batch. Always 40% ABV. The heavy bottle and the bee logo are instantly familiar behind any bar in Australia.

What to mix it with

Margarita on the rocks, Paloma, Tequila Sunrise, frozen Margarita variations, Mexican Mule. Solid sipper over ice with a pinch of salt.

Background

Patrón was founded in 1989 by John Paul DeJoria (of Paul Mitchell fame) and Martin Crowley at the Hacienda Patrón in Jalisco. It was one of the first tequilas to be marketed as a premium spirit in the US market. Bacardi bought the brand in 2018.
