The Daiquiri’s tropical sister.
Why you are pouring this tonight
The Coconut Daiquiri is the Daiquiri’s tropical sister and one of the few coconut cocktails that does not feel like a holiday-resort cocktail. Same template as the Daiquiri (rum, lime, sweetener) with coconut cream replacing the simple syrup. Built clean, served up, no umbrellas, no nonsense.
The Daiquiri is the bartender’s QC drink; if you can balance a Coconut Daiquiri you understand the proportions of every tropical cocktail in the book. Use Plantation 3 Stars or Havana Club 3 for the rum. Coco Lopez for the coconut cream. Fresh lime, never the bottled stuff. Shake hard with ice for twelve seconds, double-strain into a chilled coupe, lime twist expressed over the surface. Pair with light fish, ceviche, fresh tropical fruit.
What to pour it alongside
Light fish, ceviche, tropical fruit.
Notes
The Daiquiri is the bartender’s QC test. If you make a clean Coconut Daiquiri, you have your tropical balance right.
