Replace the cranberry juice with white cranberry juice and the drink becomes crystal-clear with the same familiar flavour.
Why you are pouring this tonight
The White Cosmo is the Cosmopolitan made with white cranberry juice instead of red. Vodka, white cranberry, lime, triple sec. Looks like a Martini in a coupe. Drinks like a slightly cleaner Cosmopolitan. The drink for somebody who has decided the bright pink original is too 1990s for current rotation.
White cranberry juice is real cranberry juice from underripe berries; it tastes the same but pours pale gold. Available at most decent supermarkets in Australia (Ocean Spray makes one). Use a clean vodka and Cointreau for the triple sec. Shake hard with ice for twelve seconds, double-strain into a chilled coupe, expressed orange peel over the surface. Pair with smoked salmon, oysters, anything cured.
What changes from the Cosmopolitan
Red cranberry out. White cranberry in. Everything else the same.
What to pour it alongside
Canapes, sushi, anything you’d serve at a proper cocktail party.
